Efforts to improve the investment environment, enhance competitiveness

The conference discussed the socio-economic performance in May and the first months of 2016; reviewing and evaluating the implementation of conclusions of the Chairman of MPC at the briefing conference of April, 2016.

As reported by the City, in the first 5 months of 2016, the implementation for tasks of socio-economic development of the City achieve numerous results. Production situation, the business continued to prosper. The industrial production index rose 6.1% in May compared to April and up 8.9% compared to the same period in 2015. In general, in 5 months, up 7.7% compared to the same period of last year.

Total turnover of goods and services revenue in May was estimated at 173,515 billion, up 0.9% compared to April and up 10.3% compared to the same period in 2015. The accumulated in 5 months, total flow of goods and services revenue is estimated at 855,291 billion, up 9.9% compared to the same period of last year. Export turnover in 5 months reached 4.314 billion dollars, an increase of 0.3% over the same period; imports reached 9,281 billion US dollars, down 6.2% over the same period.

Consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.35% in May compared to April. The main reason why the CPI increase is due to higher gasoline prices, leading to increasing traffic services (up 2.07% compared with April). Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials rose 0.41% over the previous month due to rising oil prices.

In 5 months, the city's revenue reaches 74,113 billion, equivalent 43.75% of the estimate. Local budget spending in 5 months reached 23,056 billion, reaching 31.3% of the yearly estimate. In particular, investment spending development is 10,341 billion, 12,715 billion of recurrent expenditure.

In the spirit of "national start-up year", the whole city has 9,367 enterprises registering the establishment of new businesses, an increase of 23% over the same period in 2015, total registered capital is 74,600 billion, up 59% compared to same period of last year, while only 460 companies were dissolved, the lowest in recent years.

In particular, the City has successfully hosted the conference "Hanoi 2016 - Investment  and Development Cooperation". In which, investment projects introduced in phase I - 2016 is 43 projects, with the total investment is expected to 372,250 billion; 52 projects called for investment, the period from 2016 to 2020, investment is expected to 338,725 billion. The meeting will sign the minutes, memos, investment cooperation, announced the program of social security, giving the investment policy decisions, registration certificates for 23 investment projects, with the total capital investment estimated at 369,000 billion (approximately USD 1.7 billion). This is the basis for Hanoi to implement the tasks of socio-economic development, improving the investment environment, enhancing the city's competitiveness in the coming years.
