Hanoi Book Fair attracts readers and tourists at weekend
The 8th Hanoi Book Fair in 2023 opened in the capital on the evening of October 6 with the theme "Lighting the Fire of Knowledge- Creating the Future."
On October 7, the 8th Hanoi Book Fair 2023, with the theme "Lighting the fire of knowledge - Creating the future", attracted a large number of visitors.
Starting in 2014, the annual event was organized by the Hanoi People's Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications, with the participation of 30 publishers. Book companies across the country provide a reading culture space and many attractive programs dedicated to readers.
This year, it continues to receive the participation of a number of diplomatic representative agencies from Laos, Myanmar and Italy.
Some typical programs will take place during the three-day book Fair, such as a discussion and book introduction of Hanoi: Biography of a City by author Willam S. Logan (Hanoi Publishing House); a seminar on Villages and Streets of Hanoi introducing two books about Hanoi by writer Nguyen Ngoc Tien; talkshow about Heidi by author Johanna Spyri.
Over many years of organization, the Hanoi Book Fair has become a favorite cultural meeting place for book lovers, contributing to spreading and enhancing reading culture to a large number of domestic readers as well as international tourists.
The event opened on October 6 with the participation of Ha Minh Hai, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.
He said that the book fair had become a special event for honoring reading culture, building a learning society, and creating beauty in the capital's social life.
It contributes to deepening the great historical significance of the capital's Liberation Day and reviewing the traditions of the capital. The book fair is a cultural and meaningful activity for the annual reading culture.
Hai also hoped that this book fair would bring a lot of joy and create the best conditions to help people improve their knowledge in studying and researching.
“The large and enthusiastic participation of people will be a decisive factor in creating the success of the Hanoi Book Fair, contributing to concretizing Resolution No 09 of the City Party Committee on cultural industry development in the capital,” Hai said.
The book fair will run through October 8 at the walking street space by Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi.
