Hanoi hosts ceremony to commemorate 130th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh

The ceremony aims to highlight remarkable contributions by President Ho Chi Minh to the national revolutionary cause.

A ceremony in commemoration of the 130th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2020) was held on May 18 by the Hanoi’s Party Committee and government. 

Members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, National Assembly, State Presidency, Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee attending the program.

In attendance were members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, National Assembly, State Presidency, Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee. 

Addressing the ceremony, Party Secretary General and State President Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the Vietnamese nation and people gave birth to President Ho Chi Minh, the great national hero, and it was President Ho Chi Minh who glorified the Vietnamese nation and people.

Every step foward, every achievement of the Vietnamese revolution has been attributable to the great contribution of President Ho Chi Minh, the illumination and stewardship of his thought, Mr. Trong said.

He pointed out that Vietnam is celebrating the birth anniversary of the Great President at the moment of transcendental importance, which presents both challenges and opportunities, requiring strong unity and efforts, high determination and endeavors, dynamism and creativity from the entire Party, the people and the armed forces to overcome the hurdles and negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, ensure social security and welfare for the people, proactively grasp the opportunities to excellently fulfill the socio-economic tasks set for the year 2020.

Prior to the ceremony, a delegation comprising of current and former Party and State leaders laid wreath at the Monument to War Heroes and Martyrs in Hanoi.
