Speaking at the meeting with the high-ranking delegation of the Federation of Trade Unions of Seoul (South Korea) on August 5, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong gave remarks when emphasizing the important role of trade unions in foreign-invested enterprises.

The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee welcomed the Seoul delegation’s visit to Hanoi on the 30th anniversary of Vietnam - South Korea diplomatic relations.

He affirmed the deepening and widening development in all fields, especially in the field of trade unions, is proof of the cooperation of the two countries in general and the two capitals in particular.

He highly appreciated the fact that the Federation of Trade Unions of Seoul and the Hanoi Confederation of Labor planned to sign a memorandum of understanding and cooperation agreement to share the two organizations' annual experiences, support each other and expand their relationship with each other.

He expected the excellent cooperation relationship between the two sides, with 15 years of cooperation, would be more practical and effective.

Echoing Phong, Kim Ki Chul, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Seoul, expressed his belief that this cooperation agreement will facilitate the two organizations to support each other more practically.

Like Hanoi, Seoul has been affected by the pandemic in the past two years, causing many difficulties for workers, the Chairman said the South Korean side is making efforts to improve and restart many policies to support workers.

At the meeting, the two sides also spent time sharing experiences in urban development and management. The South Korean side shared many notable initiatives such as a legal support center for foreign workers, a mechanism to support older workers, and experience in housing development to support young couples.
