Hanoi has inaugurated four water supply and drainage projects in 2018, which help increase the city’s water supply capacity in 2019 by 390,000 m3 per day and night.
Hanoi’s residents will not suffer water shortage for more than one day, Director of the Construction Department Le Van Duc confirmed at an online meeting held by the Hanoi People's Committee on June 27.
Presenting a report on summer water supply and drainage plan for the 2019 rainy season, the director said Hanoi has inaugurated four water supply and drainage projects in 2018, which help increase the city’s water supply capacity in 2019 by 390,000 m3 per day and night.
Duc noted that currently 1.3 million Hanoi people have access to tap water, consuming an average 1.1-1.2 million m3 per day and night. He predicted that the demand for water in summer will increase by 5-10%, the number of consumers will increase by 6%, but water supply for the city is secured.
Currently, all water plants in the city supply a total of 1.37 million m3 the whole day, Duc said.
He added that water supply interruption occurs due to malfunction and pipe maintenance will not leave the people without safe water because the Tay Mo pump station and a plant purifying Duong river surface have been put into operation.
