Korean Expo 2016 launched in Hanoi

On November 30, Korean Expo 2016 was officially launched at Lotte Hotel Hanoi. The opening ceremony of the expo saw the presence of Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Lee Hyuk and enterprises from Republic of Korea, Vietnam and ASEAN countries.
Jointly organized by Korean Trade and Investment Promotion Agency in Hanoi (Kotra Hanoi) and Vietnam National Trade Fair & Advertising Joint stock Company (Vinexad), the event draws the participation of 70 enterprises from Republic of Korea, 65 ones from ASEAN region and 350 domestic ones.
On the occasion, Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) will exhibit and introduce export potential of Vietnamese products and policies to attract investment into Vietnam. They will exhibit a wide range of products, such as: cosmetics, jewelry, fashion; kitchen and home appliances; food and beverages; LED equipment, smart appliances, smart toys for babies and raw materials for the production of light industry, etc.
On the sideline of the event, a seminar titled “Vietnam Retail System: distribution channels and approaches" will be held. Kotra Hanoi will also cooperate with the e-commerce website of Vingroup: adayroi.com/korea to organize online shopping festival with many incentives, stretching from now until December 3.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Chairman Chung said that Republic of Korea is the second largest investor in Hanoi with 1,175 projects with total registered capital of over US$5 billion. Especially, in 2016, the number of Korean visitors to Hanoi was 316,285, increased by 16.4 percent over same period last year, ranked its second among the ten leading tourist markets of Hanoi, accounting for 23.4 percent of total Korean tourists to Vietnam.
Chairman Chung stressed that Hanoi always regards Republic of Korea as an important and long-term development partner. He also underlined enormous untapped potential in the economic - trade – investment cooperation of the two sides.
Hanoi is ready to cooperate with all businesses, entrepreneurs and investors from Republic of Korea, ASEAN community and around the world to invest in Hanoi. Hanoi will continue deploying drastic solutions and creating favorable conditions for foreign investors, including Korean ones to launch long-term investment in the capital city and effective implement the Korea-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement. The City will further improve the investment and business environment in the direction of transparency, ventilation, modern, professional and friendly, Chairman Chung stressed.
