Measures taken for Hanoi's cooperative economic development

The Hanoi People’s Committee granted Official Letter No. 956/UBND-KT on March 12, asking relevant departments, sectors and People’s Committees of districts, towns to take solutions for cooperative economic development in the area.

Under the Official Letter, the Municipal People’s Committee received the Official Letter No. 77/LMHTXVN-VP dated January 30, 2018 of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance on some measures for cooperative economic development.

Each province and central-run city will strive to fulfill key targets for 2018, including: establishing at least 100 new cooperative groups, 35 cooperatives and unions; building at least 15 cooperative models in association with sustainable product chains; the number of cooperatives’ members will increase by at least 10% compared to last year; 50% of cooperatives will operate more effectively; increasing by minimum 20% of membership cooperatives of cooperative alliances in provinces and cities in comparison with last year.
Innovating communication methods of the Party’s guidelines and policies, the State’s laws on developing cooperative economy so as to make remarkable changes of people’s awareness and action; organizing conferences, forums, fairs in combination with cooperative economic development; strengthening communication on cooperative development in association with value chains; opening training courses on guidelines and policies for cooperative economic development for heads of villages, communes and districts and so on.
Focusing on reviewing, evaluating and consolidating cooperatives according to Cooperative Law in 2012; drastically handling and dissolving poor-performance cooperatives; improving the capacity of consultancy and service supply; training managers and members of cooperatives; promoting trade, processing and product consumption with enterprises.
Proactively knowing difficulties and shortcomings of cooperatives to timely remove and propose state agencies to arrange enough resources to implement preferential policies for cooperatives.          
Regarding to the above matter, the Municipal People’s Committee assigned the Hanoi Cooperative Alliance to take prime responsibility and cooperate with Departments of Planning and Investment, Agriculture and Rural Development, the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, People’s Committees of districts, towns and relevant sectors, units to take solutions for cooperative economic development in 2018.
