More than 800 stranded people in Danang return to Hanoi

Four flights will be operated from August 11 to 13 to bring back the stranded people to Hanoi.

From August 11 to 13, 828 stranded people in the pandemic-hit city Danang, who have all tested negative for coronavirus, will arrive in Hanoi on four flights, according to the Danang Tourism Department.

On August 12, 413 passengers returned on two flights of Vietnam Airlines. The first flight carrying 207 people took off at 11:30am. The second one left the city at 4pm on the same day.

On August 13, two Vietjet flights will carry the remaining 415 passengers to Hanoi. The departure time of the first flight carrying 215 passengers from Danang airport will be at 9 am. The other, with 200 people, will take off at 4 pm.

The passengers on the plane were mainly tourists and some infants who remain stuck in Danang since the beach city was put under lockdown to curb the Covid-19 pandemic spread.

To ensure safety, passengers and crew members are equipped with full-body medical protection. They have to make medical declarations and their body temperature is measured before boarding.

The Hanoi Capital High Command will be in charge of arranging the mass quarantine of the number of Hanoians returning from the beach city Danang and Quang Nam province.

On August 10, a mission led by Major General Nguyen Quoc Duyet, commander of the Hanoi Capital High Command, inspected the preparation of facilities and treatment conditions at the Me Linh field hospital in Dai Thinh commune, Me Linh district and the Center for National Defense and Security Education in Son Tay town. The mission concluded that the facilities are ready to accommodate the capital’s returnees from Danang and Quang Nam.

Since the novel coronavirus reemerged in Danang on July 25, as many as 405 local infections have been detected in 15 cities and provinces.

As of August 12, Vietnam confirmed 866 Covid-19 infection cases.
