Over 7,000 runners compete at the 6th Manulife Da Nang International Marathon

Two Vietnamese athletes won the first and second places at the women’s full marathon (42km).

More than 7,000 runners from 52 countries competed at the 6th Manulife Da Nang International Marathon on August 12.
Accordingly, all runners competed at four distances including a full marathon (42km), half marathon (21km), a 10km run and a 5km fun run for locals and donors.

For the women’s full marathon, Vietnamese runner Pham Thi Hong Le won the first place while other Vietnamese athlete Nguyen Linh Chi took the second place.
For the man’s full marathon, two Japanese runners Suzaki Yuuya and Koji Nishizawa won the first and second places, followed by Vietnamese runner Huyen Tan Tien.
In addition, Vietnamese runner Lo Thi Thanh won the first place at the women’s half marathon while Japanese runner Tomomi Nakajima came second. Meanwhile, for the man’s half marathon, Japanese runner Hiroki Nakajima won the first place, followed by two Vietnamese runners Nguyen Dang Khoa and Doan Ngoc Hoang.
For the women’s 10km run, Vietnamese runner Nguyen Thi Huong won the first place, followed by Bui Thi Mai and Dinh Thi Ngat. For the man’s 10km run, Le Dinh Tuan and Le Cong Bang from Vietnam claimed the first and second places, followed by South Korean runner Kim Seongwon.

On the occasion, the organizing board presented more than VND225 million (US$10,000) raised from donors and organizations for the city's people with disabilities, orphans, AO/dioxin victims, and disadvantaged children and women.
The race is sponsored by Manulife and organized by Pulse Active and Da Nang. It is the first Vietnamese marathon certified by the International Amateur Athletics Association (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
In 2017, nearly 5,000 runners from 44 countries and territories raced in the event. More than US$21,000 was raised for handicapped people and orphans, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, disabled people, the Village of Hope and 15 low-income families in the city.
