Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passes away

A special announcement regarding the organization of the State Funeral for the Party Chief is expected to be made soon.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away due to old age and serious illness on July 19, 2024, at the age of 80.

The Professional Council for Health Protection of Cadres announced that Trong passed away at 1:38 p.m. at the 108 Central Military Hospital despite receiving dedicated care from the Party, the State, a team of leading professors, doctors and medical experts, and his family.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will make a special announcement on the organization of the State Funeral for the Party leader.
