Currently, Poland is the largest trade partner of Vietnam in Central and Eastern Europe while Vietnam is the Poland’s third trade partner in Southeast Asia.
Poland wants to expand economic and trade cooperation with HCM City - a dynamic high-tech industrial city, setting the pace for global innovation and entrepreneurship.
Katarzyna Kacperczyk, Under-secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the statement at a Vietnam-Poland Economic Forum in HCM City on June 13.
Polish companies attending the forum are principally operating in the fields of agricultural foodstuffs, consumer goods, banking, information technology, equipment, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, real estate, environmental protection, shipbuilding, and mining.
According to Katarzyna Kacperczyk, the forum not only meets the two countries’ demand for global economic integration and promotes economic growth but also brings opportunities to attract higher levels of investment.
She suggested that the two business communities should take advantage of their potential in cooperation and market expansion.
As of early 2014, Poland had 10 investment projects in Vietnam, including two in HCM City with a total capitalisation of US$350,000.
In addition, two-way trade turnover between the two countries reached US$45 million in the first five months of this year.
Le Manh Ha, Deputy Chairman of the HCM City People's Committee, assured Polish businesses that the city always creates favourable conditions for foreign businesses, especially Polish enterprises, to facilitate their trade and investment promotions in the locality.
He also encouraged the two business communities to further strengthen their understanding of markets, primarily in the fields that the city are attracting investment such as services and information technology.
