Queen of Denmark Margrethe II expects new heights in relations with Vietnam

The stability and sustainability in the relations between a Southeast Asian country and the other in Nordic Europe show their mutual trust and shared benefits despite the long geographical distance.

Queen of Denmark Margrethe II expected her country’s relations with Vietnam would reach new heights as bilateral cooperation is strengthened in all spheres.

The statement was raised when Vietnam’s Ambassador to Denmark Luong Thanh Nghi presented his credentials to the Queen of Denmark on May 6 at Fredensborg Palace.

In the following meeting, Queen Margrethe II expressed her delight at the strong progress in Vietnam-Denmark relations in the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971.

According to Queen Margrethe II, the progress is seen in traditional fields such as politics – foreign affairs, economy – trade – investment, people-to-people exchange, agricultural cooperation, education, to new areas such as climate response, renewables, green growth, and sustainable development.

Based on the half-a-century strong foundation, Queen Margrethe II spoke of her confidence that the bilateral relations would reach new heights for mutual benefits.

Queen Margrethe II mentioned her visit to Vietnam in 2009 with great fondness, largely thanks to the warm welcome and sincerity from the Vietnamese Government and people towards the Queen and Denmark’s royal family.

At the meeting, Nghi expressed his honor to be appointed as the Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark, especially at a time when the bilateral relations are progressing strongly since the two established a strategic partnership in climate response, energy, environment, and green growth in 2011, and comprehensive partnership in 2013.

“The stability and sustainability in the relations between a Southeast Asian country and the other in Nordic  Europe show their mutual trust and shared benefits despite the long geographical distance,” Nghi added.

Nghi noted Queen Margrethe II and her family’s special affection for Vietnam is a valuable treasure and contributes to the strong relations between the two countries.

The ambassador stressed his commitment to further deepen the relations between Vietnam and Denmark in the coming times.
