By 2030, Hanoi will need approximately US$14.6 billion to build 96.8km of urban railway.
The local authorities plan to spend VND113 billion (US$4.4 million) to build the tunnel connecting two metro lines.
This urban railway line is 12.5 kilometers long, 8.5 of which are elevated and 4 underground.
Hanoi aims to address issues related to planning and investment to improve public transport systems, develop urban railways, and shape sustainable urban environments.
Planning for public transport-oriented development stands is a key solution to ignite the city’s breakthrough in socio-economic development.
The public passenger transport system is becoming increasingly popular as it is convenient, time-saving, and helps reduce the number of private vehicles on the road.
The goal is for Hanoi to speed up major infrastructure projects, including the Ring Road No.4 – Hanoi capital region and metro lines.
The project overruns 6% to VND34.8 trillion (US$1.48 billion).
Hanoi's authorities are requested to spend more time handling the remaining issues, especially, the safety of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway.
