Vietnam aims to send 130,000 laborers overseas in 2020

It is expected that in 2020, the MoLISA and a Germany’s labor agency will sign a cooperation agreement to receive skilled Vietnamese workers.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) aims to send 130,000 laborers overseas in 2020, focusing on high and stable income countries, VnEconomy reported.

According to data from the Foreign Labor Administration under the MoLISA, Vietnam sent 152,530 (including 54,700 women) workers abroad in 2019, 27.1% above the 2019 plan.

Last year [2019] was the fourth consecutive year that Vietnam sent 120,000 laborers per year, bringing the total number of Vietnamese guest workers to about 650,000 people in more than 40 countries and territories and in more than 30 sectors and industries.

Some regular overseas labor markets of Vietnam still have high job demand, including Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea.

Some markets in Europe have an increasing demand for Vietnamese labor, such as Russia, Romania, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Austria, among others.

By the end of 2019, more than one thousand Vietnamese nurses were sent to Germany to be trained and employed. They all receive good evaluation from the German side, according to the MoLISA.

It is expected that in 2020, the MoLISA and a Germany’s labor agency will sign a cooperation agreement to receive skilled Vietnamese workers.

However, the European market will restrict guest laborers in the field of construction while foreign laborers are encouraged to work in the fields of technology, agriculture and factory.

The MoLISA said that many Vietnamese labor exporting firms are working hard to find more contracts and markets. Besides, some have invested in training the workforce on foreign languages and necessary skills before sending them overseas.
