Such information was revealed at the meeting on May 15 between Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and France’s leading corporations in aviation industry, including ADP Group, ACOEM, Brueau Veritas Vietnam, among others.

Deputy PM Dung said the Vietnam – France strategic partnership has been growing strongly in all spheres, especially in trade – economy – investment.

France currently is Vietnam’s fourth largest trade partner in Europe, with bilateral trade turnover in 2018 reaching US$5.1 billion, up 10.8% year-on-year and Vietnam’s exports amounting to US$3.76 billion.

Additionally, the country is among Vietnam’s largest bilateral ODA donors in Europe.

Dung lauded efficient cooperation between enterprises from two countries, while many leading French companies are investing in Vietnam in various fields, including aviation infrastructure development, service management and flight safety.

These cooperation projects would help Vietnam improve and modernize infrastructure, in turn bringing returns for French investors.

For ongoing projects, Dung urged all parties involved to ensure the quality and progress as schedule, especially large projects such as technical assistance project between ADPi and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) for the expansion of the Noi Bai International Airport and  Tan Son Nhat International Airport expansion project.

These projects hold significance in alleviating congestion and meeting rapid growing aviation transport demand, Dung added.

On behalf of the French delegation, First Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission  of France to Vietnam Olivier Sigaud said Vietnam and France have a long-standing relation in civil aviation development.

France is cooperating with Vietnam to modernize the aviation infrastructure, and training human resources for the industry, he said.

Representatives of French corporations at the meeting shared view that the potential for cooperation between the two countries remain huge, especially in the aviation industry.
