Vietnam Expo 2017 to foster economic connectivity

The 27th Vietnam International Trade Fair (Vietnam Expo 2017) is scheduled at Hanoi International Exhibition Centre (ICE), No. 91 Tran Hung Dao Street from April 19-22 and aims to enhance regional and international economic connectivity.

Vietnam Expo 2017 will be hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and organised annually by the Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (Vinexad). Under the theme “Enhancing Regional and Global Economic Links,” the event is an important trade promotion activity to welcome Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Vietnam 2017, serving as an effective bridge for trade promotion between Vietnam and other countries and territories.

According to the organisers, the event is expected to attract 500 enterprises from 23 countries and territories, including APEC members, covering 600 booths.

The expo features diversified products of local companies, particularly those won the Vietnam Value Award for their high-quality, attractive design and competitive prices, such as industrial plastics from Binh Minh Plastics Company and Duy Tan Plastics Manufacturing Company, tyres and rubber products by Da Nang Rubber Manufacturing Company, power counters, cables and lines from Tran Phu Electronic and Mechanics Company and Vietnam Electric Equipment Company, water tanks and heaters by Dai Thanh Corporation and handicraft products by Hanoi Trade Corporation.

During the event, a forum on Vietnam’s exports, an industrial Park fact-finding tour and business connections will also be held, helping local and foreign businesses to learn more about policy advisories and better design competence.

The highlight of the event is the Vietnam Industrial Investment and Development corner hosted by the MOIT’s Trade Promotion Department, displaying outstanding local industrial products and providing guidance on investment policies.

It also displays products designed by Vietnam in coordination with the Republic of Korea (ROK)’s Institute for Design Products, with an eye to improving product design capacity for Vietnam enterprises towards enhancing products’ competitiveness.

At last year’s event, the ROK sent 111 enterprises in cosmetics, food, beverage, textiles, commodities, pharmaceuticals, electronics and industrial manufacturing machines displaying their products at the exhibition. These products are subject to tax cuts under a FTA that came into effect in December 2015, applicable to 11,679 tariffs for Vietnam and 8,529 ones for the ROK.

The Vietnam Expo series, which has been held for over the last two decades, has been recognised as effective trade event, bringing about economic values for organisations, enterprises and individuals in Vietnam and overseas.
