Vietnam tourism has four nominees on the voting of the 2018 World Travel Awards, according to the organizing board of the 2018 World Travel Awards.
The nominations for Vietnam include the 2018 best culture destinations in the world, the 2018 best destinations in the world, the 2018 best tourism council in the world (for the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism), the 2018 leading city destinations in the world (for Hanoi).

Earlier, the Hanoi Department of Tourism has called on local and foreign visitors to vote for the city to become one of the world’s leading city destination in 2018 as part of the World Travel Awards.
Among the 200 nominations for the World Travel Awards, Hanoi has been nominated by the World Travel Organization to run with 17 candidates for a prize of the world’s leading city destination in 2018.
The rest cities suggested for the award are Auckland (New Zealand), Cape Town and Dubai, Durban (South Africa), Hong Kong (China), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Las Vegas and New York (the US), Lisbon (Portugal), London (the UK), Marrakech (Morocco), Paris (France), Quito (Ecuador), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Saint-Petersburg (Russia), Sydney (Australia), and Lisbon (Portugal).

Vietnam welcomed some 11.616 million foreign visitors in the first nine months of 2018, an 22.9% increase from the same period last year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) has said in a monthly report.
Of the total visitors in the first nine months of 2018, over 9 million came from Asia. Chinese tourists topped the list with 3.8 million, followed by 2.5 million from South Korea, 623,700 from Japan, 527,700 from Taiwan (China), 381,800 from Malaysia, 236,600 from Thailand and 202,800 from Singapore.
