Vietnam launches Safe Vietnam Travel app amid Covid-19

It is expected that the app would reach more than 43 million downloads.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has officially kick-started the Safe Vietnam Travel app in an effort to ensure travelers’ safety when making trips around Vietnam.

An interface of Safe Vietnam Travel app

The app is available in both Vietnamese and English from 10:00am of October 10 via http://vietnamtourism.gov.vn/live. The app is designed to make it easier for visitors to check how safe destinations are and feel more secure about their trip.

The app contains a digital map to keep travelers updated on the safety status of restaurants, hotels, entertainment places, transport providers, hospitals and pharmacies of which the owners and managers have submitted their safety status to the authorized agencies.

The visitors can look up information about the current Covid-19 situation at the destination as well as details about infection cases and the number of recovered patients there.

The app allows tourists to send their feedback and comments on the service quality of places as well as the reliability of the safety information provided.

Active promotion programs and discounts are also updated on the app to help tourists enjoy their stay in Vietnam even more.

The app is designed to support the second stimulus program for domestic tourism with the theme “Vietnam tourism - a safe and attractive destination” recently launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on September 18, and is expected to become a useful tool for tourists in the context that Covid-19 is under control in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has requested the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to take immediate measures, such as accelerating the application of digital technology for tourism marketing, smartly managing tourist destinations, building big data and open data to promote the development of the sector.
