Deputy Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet gave the information during a press conference held today [May 12].

According to Viet, out of the total amount, $100,000 has been donated to the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), $100,000 to the World Health Organization (WHO), $100,000 to the UN International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and $200,000 to the Ukraine Red Cross.

“The aid would help support humanitarian activities for those affected by the conflict in Ukraine,” said Viet, noting Vietnam shared with the global community deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Ukraine due to the escalation of fighting.

Viet called on those involved to immediately stop using force, and ensure the safety of the people and essential infrastructure.

“Both sides should respect the international humanitarian law for people to access necessary support, as well as the evacuation of foreigners living in Ukraine, including Vietnamese people,” he said.

“Vietnam supports humanitarian activities from countries and partners for civilians affected by the conflict,” Viet concluded.
