Vietnam imported 1,928 cars worth US$43.37 million from September 7 to 13, down 14.8% from the amount of 2,264 cars worth US$53.7 million imported in the previous week, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC).

Cars with less than nine seats made up the largest proportion with 1,295 units worth US$27.3 million, down 72 units compared to the previous week and contributing 67.2% of the total imported volume, of which, 712 units were from Thailand or 55% of the total, followed by Indonesia with 397 units, China 72 and the remaining from Germany and Japan, among others.
This resulted in a unit price of US$21,000 for each imported car, lower than the reported price of US$ 23,357 apiece in previous weeks.
Notably, no car with over nine seats was imported in Vietnam from September 7 - 13.
Vietnam also imported 615 trucks worth US$13.07 million, of which 443 units were from Thailand, accounting for 72% of the total imported volume during the period.
Additionally, 18 specialized cars were imported to Vietnam worth US$3 million, mainly from South Korea with 10 units and 5 from China.
Customs statistics also showed that US$86.9 million worth of accessories and parts were imported to Vietnam last week, up 52.5% week-on-week from the US$57 million recorded in the previous week.
Suppliers of those products in subject to Vietnam were mainly from Japan with US$23.5 million, China US$20.3 million, South Korea US$17.6 million, Thailand US$9.8 million, Germany US$4.8 million and India US$2.6 million.
Overall, accessories and parts from these six countries accounted for 90.5% of total imported value from those products in the week.
