Colonel Nguyen Nhu Canh, deputy director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department under the Ministry of National Defense, said that all 63 officers after more than two years of training are ready to undertake international missions to replace the first field hospital in South Sudan.

"The doctors have been trained in air emergency, emergency of mass trauma, and methods to prevent diseases in the host country," Colonel Canh said, adding that the doctors will also provide additional emergency care and medical treatment for people in South Sudan.

Lieutenant Colonel Vo Van Hien, director of the second field hospital, said the team of doctors will quickly master the work when receiving the handover from the first hospital.

Jillann Farmer, UN health director expressed gratitude to Vietnam's role in UN peacekeeping operations.
