VinFast debuts first Vietnam-branded cars

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expects Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs to keep effectively implementing the “Vietnamese goods conquer Vietnamese buyers” campaign.

VinFast, the automobile arm of Vietnam's largest privately-run conglomerate, debuted its three car models at a ceremony of the “Vietnamese goods conquering Vietnamese buyers” campaign on November 20.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and other senior officials.

Addressing the event, PM Phuc stressed that in the context of deepening international integration, Vietnam has become a leading country in the export of electronics, textiles, and footwear, however the country does not have many international brands, especially in the automobile industry.

The PM praised VinFast for its efforts in creating the first value chain of locally-made automobiles and electric motorbikes in a short period of time, as well as the firm’s plans to develop supporting industries, fulfill its commitments to consumers, abide by regulations on environmental protection, especially in industrial emission, and create more jobs for laborers.

Phuc expects Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs to continue to effectively implement the “Vietnamese goods conquer Vietnamese buyers” program, which he described as the aspiration of Vietnamese people and enterprises to build Vietnamese brands, towards developing a self-reliant economy.

At the event, VinFast introduced three new automobile models, namely VinFast Lux SA 2.0 (SUV), VinFast Lux A 2.0 (Sedan), and VinFast Fadil.

Its five-seat sedan Lux A2.0 and seven-seat SUV Lux SA 2.0, which had already been revealed to the public for the first time at the Paris Motor Show last month, respectively cost VND1.366 billion (US$58,303) and VND1.818 billion (US$77,166). The smaller hatchback Fadil, presented for the  first time, costs VND423 million (US$18,134).

However, VinFast announced a special promotion program, whereby the prices for the models are VND800 million (around US$34,300) for the VinFast Lux A 2.0, VND1.136 billion (US$48,600) for the VinFast Lux SA 2.0, and VND336 million (US$14,400) for the VinFast Fadil. These prices are exclusive of a 10% value added tax.
