Hanoi to host a series of cultural activities in celebration of Reunification Day and May Day
Even though some amusing collective activities have been canceled to prevent Covid-19 outbreak, people in Hanoi can enjoy many cultural activities as long as they ensure preventive measures issued by the Ministry of Health.
Hanoi will host a series of cultural activities on the holidays of Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1), aiming at preserving traditional heritage values as well as promoting tourism development and the image of the millennial capital city.

A series of cultural activities with the theme “The Story of Pottery” will be held by the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter until May 31, 2021, introducing traditional craft villages of Hanoi and other localities.
In particular, there will be a display and demonstration of the traditional pottery trade at Kim Ngan Communal House, 42-44 Hang Bac street.

It aims at presenting and honoring the traditional Vietnamese pottery by displaying a variety of ceramic products from traditional to modern style, which show the creativity of the talented artisans, according to Tran Thi Thuy Lan, Deputy Head of the Hoan Kiem Lake Management Board and Hanoi Old Quarter.
Besides, at the Hanoi Old Quarter Heritage Information Center, 28 Hang Buom street, there will be an exhibition on weaving, a traditional craft of Vinh Ba village in the southern province of Phu Yen province. At the event, tourism products between Phu Yen and Hanoi will also be offered.

Those who are interested in unique lacquer art can learn more about it at Dong Lac Communal House, 38 Hang Dao street where traditional lacquer products are exhibited with the theme “The quintessence of Vietnamese lacquer”. Visitors can also try making lacquerware by taking part in some stage of the lacquer making process.

In about 1.5 hours of the itinerary, tourists can visit the Doan Mon gate area, the gallery “Thang Long - Hanoi, a Thousand Years of History from the Underground” and the archaeological relic area, see art performances on the glass floor, offer incense to commemorate the 52 Vietnamese kings at Kinh Thien Palace as well as explore artifacts by laser light. Many areas of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel will be lit up with the art of lighting, showcasing their lasting beauty.
