Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2025 celebrates culture and creativity
The Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2025 invites locals and tourists alike to immerse themselves in a vibrant showcase of culture, cuisine, and craftsmanship.
THE HANOI TIMES — Visitors can explore spaces inspired by Hanoi's rich past, including traditional craft villages, regional specialties, and reconstructions of famous architectural landmarks such as the Old Quarter, the living spaces of the bygone centralized economy era, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and the Temple of Literature, among others.
Themed "Hanoi - World Heritage Destination", the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2025 kicked off at the Tran Nhan Tong pedestrian street on the evening of April 11, featuring a variety of specialties, souvenirs, and traditional handicrafts that highlight the cultural essence of Vietnam's capital.
Nguyen Manh Quyen, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, presided over the festival's opening ceremony.
Promoting tourism with innovation

This annual lively festival unfolds a vivid narrative of the city's iconic heritage.
"This year's festival honors Hanoi's heritage through tourism gifts, encouraging visitors to connect with cultural values and preserve unforgettable memories. It's about spreading the love for Hanoi, both domestically and internationally," said Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

One of the highlights of the festival is the emphasis on inter-regional tourism links, with star guests from the northern province of Quang Ninh, represented by Co To Island, and the central province of Phu Yen. In particular, a live demonstration of Phu Yen's ocean tuna cuisine will take place on April 12, offering visitors an authentic taste of central Vietnam.
Adding to the dynamic lineup, the world's top pickleball team is scheduled to perform late on the same day, promising an energetic and unique sporting showcase.
More than just gifts
Giang said that the festival aims to make each gift a symbolic representation of Hanoi’s soul. The event celebrates both global and national heritage by spotlighting renowned craft villages such as Bat Trang pottery and Van Phuc silk, both recognized as members of the Global Network of Creative Craft Cities.

Visitors can also experience hands-on activities at booths dedicated to Ha Thai lacquerware, Phu Vinh bamboo and rattan weaving, and Vong green sticky rice making, among other traditional crafts. These interactive displays allow festival-goers to witness the artistry that defines Hanoi's long-standing cultural traditions.
Hanoi's charm lies not only in its historical sites and cultural heritage but also in its traditional craft villages. With rich histories and meaningful stories woven into each product, these villages have flourished over time and become deeply ingrained in the hearts of Hanoi's residents. Through the skilled hands of artisans, countless exquisite handicrafts have been created that have endured through the ages and continue to thrive today.
Introduction to heritage through art, music and cuisine

The festival's cultural performances offer a captivating blend of the traditional and the contemporary. including Do singing, Ai Lao folk dance, Dao Thuc water puppetry, and Ca Tru fused with electronic dance music (EDM). Families and children can enjoy folk games and creative workshops such as pottery painting and conical hat making.
No Hanoi festival is complete without its culinary delights. The festival's food zone draws crowds with popular dishes like pho, West Lake shrimp cakes, and Vong green sticky rice, each offering a taste of the capital's timeless flavors.
"This is not only a fun weekend destination but also a great opportunity for young people to learn more about Hanoi's culture," said Phuong Thao, a visitor from Hanoi's Hai Ba Trung District.

Spanish tourist Laura Maso, who attended the festival on April 11, shared her impressions: "From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the vibrant atmosphere. It's my first time in Vietnam, and everything here feels so fresh and fascinating." Laura and her family enjoyed browsing the handicrafts and food stalls, picking up unique souvenirs to take home.
The festival also serves as a hub for tourism promotion. Visitors can explore tour packages and travel deals at tour operators' booths. Nguyen Van Dung, Director of Asia Gate Travel, noted a positive trend in this year's travel market: "Compared to last year, tourism activity has clearly picked up. We're introducing flexible international tours to China, Korea, Japan, and Europe for the upcoming Reunification and May Day holidays, as well as the summer season."
Organized by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2025 runs until April 13, offering a unique chance to connect with the soul of Hanoi through its heritage, its people, and meaningful gifts.
