Hue to host Vietnam’s National Tourism Year 2025
The iconic tourist destination in Vietnam has been chosen host the National Tourism Year 2025, with the spectacular Hue Festival 2025 as its main highlight.
The Hanoi Times — The Vietnam National Tourism Year 2025 is set to be a game-changer for Hue’s tourism industry, boosting its global profile and creating lasting value for the region, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The event provides an opportunity to promote Hue's unique identity, attract a larger number of tourists, and lay the foundation for sustained tourism growth.
The year-long celebration will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien-Hue Province and the significant transformation of Hue into one of Vietnam's major cities, joining the ranks of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Cantho, and Haiphong.
The National Tourism Year 2025 will be a spectacular cultural and tourism event with about 170 activities throughout the year, including eight major events organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and 46 events led by Thua Thien-Hue Province.
A wide range of cultural, sports and tourism activities will also be hosted by 29 other provinces and cities nationwide, promising a year of unforgettable experiences.

The highlight of the event will be the grand opening ceremony on March 25, featuring the live performance "Confession of the River", which will light up the banks of the Huong River in Hue City. This captivating show, which will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television's VTV1 channel, will incorporate breathtaking water screens, visual mapping, pyrotechnics, and sound and light installation.
With the theme of "Hue - Ancient Capital, New Opportunities", the Vietnam Tourism Year in Hue is divided into four seasonal festivals, including "Spring of the Ancient Capital" from January to February, "Shining Imperial City" from April to June, "Hue in Autumn" from July to September, and "Winter of Hue" from October to December.
The city's vibrant culinary scene, rich heritage and spectacular landscapes will be highlighted with events such as the Hue Culinary Festival, the National Chef Competition and numerous cultural and tourism exhibitions. Other events include international travel delegations, conferences, and sustainable tourism initiatives such as the Net Zero Tourism Conference and others.

The year 2025 promises to be a success for Hue tourism, with a projected influx of five million visitors, including 40% international tourists.
Once the capital of the Nguyen dynasty from 1802 to 1945, the imperial city of Hue holds memories of a feudal era in Vietnam.
