Creating a legal framework for Vietnam-Angola relations

Vietnam and Angola agreed to implement the signed agreements, as well as quickly negotiating and signing new agreements that aim at creating a legal framework for cooperation between the two countries.

This was reached at talks on April 25 in Hanoi between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Angolan Minister of External Relations Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti. Both nations have consented to seek specific measures to augment broader cooperation in promising fields such as agriculture, health care, oil and gas, and telecommunications.

The two leaders underlined the need to work closely together to accelerate the implementation of signed agreements and negotiations on the signing of new deals to create a legal framework for bilateral partnership.

Minh highlighted the visit as a vivid demonstration of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and affirmed that Vietnam places great importance on reinforcing ties with traditional friends in Africa.

Vietnam sees Angola as a major cooperation partner in the region as well as the South Sahara region, he said, and assured the nation's willingness to share its experience with Angola in national construction and development.

The Angolan official in turn, hailed the achievements Vietnam has recorded during its reform and national development and expressed his hope that Angola and Vietnam will continue to promote ties in areas of shared demand and strengths such as agriculture, education, health care, telecommunication and oil and gas.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and the Angolan Foreign Minister agreed that the ministries and sectors of the two countries continue to actively coordinate the implementation of specific measures to enhance cooperation in various fields. At the mean time expanding our cooperation to other areas of potentiality such as agriculture, health care and telecommunications.

Along with that, we will quickly implement the signed agreements, rapidly negotiate and sign new agreements to create a legal framework for cooperation between the two countries.
