Gov’t figures out Top 9 key tasks for 2016

Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on December 28 presented a Government’s draft Resolution on key tasks and measures guiding the realization of the Plan for socio-economic development and state budget estimate in 2016.

The draft Resolution points out nine groups of tasks and solutions as follows:

(i) Maintaining macro-economic stability, creating environment and driving forces in favour of economic growth;

(ii) Improving manpower quality, speeding up scientific and technological development;

(iii) Ensuring social security, improving people’s living standards, developing culture, implementing social equality;

(iv) Efficiently managing and using natural resources, protecting the environment, actively adapting to natural disaster and climate change;

(v) accelerating the building of the modern, professional, dynamic administration in favour of citizens and enterprises;

(vi) Creating substantial changes in the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and settlement of complaints and denunciations;

(vii) Strengthening national defence, firmly maintaining national sovereignty, territorial integrity, ensuring political security, social order and safety;

(viii) Improving effectiveness of diplomatic activities, maintaining peaceful and stable environment for national development;

(ix) Enhancing information dissemination.

To successfully realize the targets set for 2016, the Government tasks ministries, agencies, and localities to spare no effort to synchronously conduct the assignments and solutions while continuing deployment of strategic breakthroughs, planned programs and projects.

Key objectives of the 2016 socio-economic development plan, approved by the National Assembly, include the GDP growth rate of 6.7% and total export revenue increasing by 10%, trade deficit below 5% of the total export turnover, inflation below 5%.

The multi-dimensional poverty rate is expected to drop by 1.3-1.5% and the unemployment rate in urban areas will be less than 4%.
