As Hanoi is on the trial of the urban administration model, it has no People’s Councils at commune/ward level. The absence of them are aimed to streamline the political system and save budget.

Hanoi, the city of roughly 10 million people, has around 5.8 million voters.

To prepare for the voting for the People’s Council members and the National Assembly’s deputies on May 25, the Hanoi’s Department of Information and Communications has disseminated the preparations for the election.

Prior to the voting, different forms of dissemination have been conducted namely broadcasting, banners, photo exhibitions, and extensive media coverage, according to Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, deputy director of the city’s Department of Information and Communications.
