Hanoi boosts January employment by 12.6%

In 2024, the Hanoi Center for Employment Service aims to organize 256 job transaction sessions

In January, Hanoi created jobs for 15,500 people, marking a 12.6% increase compared to the same period last year, as reported by the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs.

The Social Policy Bank has lent VND400 billion (US$16.3 million) of the city's funds to the poor and social policy beneficiaries. Additionally, the bank paid unemployment insurance benefits totaling VND153.1 billion (US$6.2 million) to 5,200 workers and supported 54 vocational students with nearly VND207 million (US$8,461).

In January, the Hanoi Employment Service Center held 20 job transaction sessions with 633 participating units and enterprises, resulting in the hiring of 1,290 workers.

According to the Municipal Department, Hanoi has implemented an effective online job board management tool for its existing 15 job board platforms. A unified system of reporting forms has been designed to facilitate statistical reporting at the end of each job transaction session. The organization of online job transaction sessions enables effective management of the worker-enterprise matchmaking process by employment service centers.

The leadership of the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs has predicted that the labor market will still face difficulties in 2024. The department will continue to organize vocational training programs for the local workforce, aligning them with the labor demand in the capital.

Furthermore, the department will continue to enhance the efficiency of job exchange activities. Currently, Hanoi has one main job exchange platform and 14 satellite platforms in districts and towns. In addition to organizing in-person sessions, the department will conduct online and mobile sessions in various districts and towns to attract diverse participants.

Another important measure that the city will focus on is sending workers abroad under contracts, with a focus on markets such as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan (China), to improve employment opportunities and help workers increase their income and stabilize their lives.

In 2024, the Hanoi Center for Employment Service aims to organize 256 job fairs. Based on the demand of the labor market, especially from enterprises, the center will organize specific thematic job transaction sessions. The aim is to provide the best possible support to employers and help job seekers find suitable jobs with stable incomes.
