Hanoi completes classification for 595 OCOP products

With the classified 1,054 OCOP products in 2019-2020, Hanoi is the leading locality in the country in the total number of OCOP rated items with 5,105 products.

This year, Hanoi has completed the evaluation and classification for 595 products under the One Commune One Product (OCOP), exceeding the set target of reaching over 400 ones.

These products came from 27 out of 30 districts and towns in the capital. Among the product candidates, there are 162 products rated with three stars, 429 with four stars and seven with five stars, according to Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

To gain the above results, People's Committees of districts and towns were requested to strengthen their Steering Committee of the OCOP Program. In addition, the Hanoi Office of New Rural Construction Program Coordination in collaboration with the city’s OCOP Product Classification and Evaluation Council has assisted the district-level councils on OCOP product evaluation and classification.

Up to now, 100% of districts and towns have guided participants in the OCOP Program to complete applications as well as organized OCOP product evaluation and classification in 2021.

Hanoi is the first locality to apply information technology in the evaluation and classification of OCOP products in the context of the complicated development of the pandemic. This has helped the OCOP Product Classification and Evaluation Council save costs and time, but still ensure objectivity and transparency in assessment and classification in accordance with central regulations.

By 2025, the city targets to complete the assessment and rating for at least 2,000 OCOP products. To realize the target, the capital will give priority to upgrading regional specialties and traditional craft villages, and continue to assist the branding of certified products.

To support OCOP subjects, the city proposed that the Government soon issue a synchronous policy to effectively implement the OCOP Program for the 2021-25 period.
