Hanoi pledges favorable conditions for startups

Hanoi expects its startup community can find solutions to the city’s urgent problems at the forum by exchanging experience with foreign experts.

Hanoi is committed to creating an enabling environment for startups to operate, said Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung at the Hanoi Innovation Summit 2019 on August 29.

As one of the two largest economic hubs of Vietnam, the capital city of Hanoi has the potential to become the country’s startup center, he stressed.

The first edition of the summit at international scale, which takes place on August 29 and 30, is hosted by global innovation organization France's Schoolab under the auspices of the Hanoi government and the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

At the event, Hanoi's mayor Nguyen Duc Chung informed that the number of newly registered enterprises has increased rapidly while more startup funds are establishing representative offices in Hanoi.

The city has identified startup development as a key task for its development plan, which has been proven by the launching of the new startup ecosystem portal StartupCity.vn and so far 800 startup businesses have registered to join it.

Besides, Hanoi has recently approved some policies to support startup enterprises and encourage startup creation in the city.

The municipal leader affirmed that the conference has significant implications for the development of the city’s startup community and is expected to provide solutions for the startup ecosystem to go global.

This is also an opportunity for investors, experts, and international startups to connect with each other, thereby promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship in Hanoi and nationwide.

Hanoi expects its startup community can find a good orientation and solutions to the city’s urgent problems at the forum by exchanging experience with foreign experts.

Chung also pledged that the city’s leadership would listen to all opinions from the business community and create an attractive, safe and effective environment for investors, investment funds and foreign startups worldwide to operate in Hanoi.
