More than two million pupils in the city from kindergarten to university will have two more weeks off.
The GPS application will monitor coronavirus-infected people and those who are in concentrated quarantine facilities or self-isolation at home.
The majority of isolated people are students and workers coming back from Europe, the epicenter of the Covid-19 outbreak outside China.
