As one of the top ten honey exporters in the world, bees have previously thrived in Vietnam’s tropical climate, but extreme recent summers and winters are now impacting the bees population and are also influencing the country’s ecosystem as a result.
Nguyen Thi Hang, Vietnamese Beekeepers’ Association, explains the importance of the animal to the country’s produce and environment to CNN: “The bees are very important for environment protection… Everybody knows the bee is a very good pollinator for the fruit trees, and also for the crops.  If there are no bees, world will disappear within 50 years.”
Eco Solutions speaks to researchers and bee keepers in Hanoi to understand the role of the bees in environmental protection and the conservation efforts the Vietnamese are employing to try and help boost the bee population.
