Hanoi’s living cost up 0.24% in April

The municipal Statistics Office’s report showed that gold price index decreased 0.68%, while USD price index fell 0.01% over the previous month.

Hanoi’s consumer price index (CPI) in April has increased 0.24% over the previous month and 4.35% against the same period last year, according to the Hanoi Statistics Office.
In particular, compared to March, the price of food and catering services decreased by 0.82%, while that of beverages and cigarette was down 0.23%.

The prices of culture-entertainment-tourism and post-telecommunication services saw respective drops of 0.2% and 0.29%. 

Meanwhile, upturn was seen in the prices of garments, headgear, footwear at 0.05%; housing, construction materials, power and water supply at 0.63%; equipment and household appliances at 0.23%; medicine and healthcare services at 0.02%.

Particularly, the price of transportation rose 4% due to the two recent hikes of gasoline prices.

The price of consumer goods such as clothing rose slightly due to increasing demand for summer shopping, thus garment price increased by 0.05% over the previous month. 

Prices of household appliances also increased by 0.23% compared to March due to price increases in some items such as electric fans, electric lights and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials saw prices up 0.63% over the previous month due to the rising gas and oil prices. 

Domestic gasoline prices were revised up on April 2 and April 17, 2019, leading to an increase of 9.88% compared to the previous month. This also caused price index of the transport group to increase by 4% over the previous month.
