More than 52,300 new enterprises registered in first 5 months

Some 52,300 new enterprises were established in Vietnam in the first five months of 2018, with total registered capital of approximately VND517 trillion (US$22.64 billion), up 3.5% in the number of new businesses and up 6.4% in terms of capital compared with the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, operational enterprises pumped an additional VND902 trillion (US$39.53 billion) into their business activities during the period.
In the first five months of 2018, as many as 13,267 businesses also resumed operations, bringing the total number of newly registered enterprises, as well as those returning to operations in the past five months, to nearly 65,600 enterprises.
Overall, these enterprises are expected to add over 412,000 new employees to their payrolls.
In May, about 2,306 enterprises returned to operation, but 6,855 businesses temporarily halted their operations and 834 enterprises completed their dissolution procedures.
May saw the establishment of over 11,000 enterprises with a total registered capital of VND104 trillion (US$4.55 billion), creating 80.5 thousand jobs.
