Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong re-elected to be Party General Secretary

On the same day, 200 members the (CPV) Central Committee, including 180 full members and 20 alternates, also voted for 18 members of the Poliburo, five members of the Party Secretariat, and 19 members of the Inspection Commission.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong was re-elected as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee during the first plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee in Hanoi on January 31.

Mr. Trong will lead the Communist Party of Vietnam in the next five-year term, for the third time, following the 11th and 12th Party Central Committee.

Mr. Trong was born in 1944 in Hanoi. He has been a Party member since 1967.

At the plenum, 200 members of the (CPV) Central Committee, including 180 full members and 20 alternates, elected the Poliburo, the General Secretary, the Secretariat, the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Inspection Commission and its chairman.

They voted for 18 members of the Poliburo, five members of the Party Secretariat, and 19 members of the Inspection Commission.

 

The list of five members of the Party Secretariat:

1. Mr. Do Minh Chien, Minister-Chairman of the Government Committee of Ethnic Minority Affairs

2. Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Vice Director of the the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Commission for Inspection.

3. Mr. Le Minh Hung, Chief of the Party Central Committee's Office.

4. Mr. Le Minh Khai, Government's Chief Inspector.

5. Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy chief of the Vietnam People's Army General Political Department.

The Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission has been elected with 19 members. Mr. Tran Cam Tu continues to lead the commission.
