National land data system will be completed by 2020.
The national land data system will reduce the time required to complete land procedures by at least 50%. Citizens and businesses will be able to look up land information without the help of management agencies, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The government considers the management of land and resources an important step to facilitate socioeconomic development. Thus, the land database was selected by the Government as one of the five national databases.
“The management of land, building a national land database for effective land management, and ensuring transparency in land management contribute to preventing problems arising in management, such as corruption,” said Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha.
The national land information system is operated from the central to the communal level, with an enormous volume of information. The data is extensive as it contains a huge number of use addresses and User accounts, according to Minister Tran Hong Ha.
Referring to the clay model and the software operating the national land information system, Ha noted that the implementation agency, the General Administration of Land, should be able to answer questions about people's needs and make it convenient for businesses to look up land data.
Last year, Vietnam and Laos discussed the role of people’s councils in making decisions and supervising land issues at a seminar held in the northern mountainous province of Son La. The seminar was a chance for representatives from the NA, Government and People’s Councils to share experiences and lessons in the area of land management in each country, as well as the role and functions of local people’s councils in passing decisions and monitoring the implementation of laws and policies on land, according to Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
