In implementing the approved sectoral development strategy and plan, Vietnamese automobile industry has achieved some outstanding results. Total production - assembly capacity reachs about 460,000 vehicles / year, including many types of cars, trucks and coach. Trucks and passenger cars of 10 seats above, specialized vehicles manufactured in domestic have achieved high localization rates, basically meet the market demand. Every year, the auto industry contributes billions of dollars to the State budget and jobs for hundreds of thousands of workers.
In addition to these results, the Vietnamese automobile industry still has its shortcomings and limitations. These companies have not designed or manufactured their own models in compliance with Vietnamese traffic conditions and demands. In addition, the target of high localization rates (60%) for private cars up to 9 seats were not achieved. Car selling price in Vietnam are still high compared to other countries in the region.
Companies have only produced a few simple and low-tech components such as mirrors, glass, seats, wires, batteries, tires and plastic products. Meanwhile, the cooperation, association and specialization in manufacturing, assembling cars, producing spare parts and components are still lacking.
To successfully implement the automobile development strategy in Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung urged Vietnamese businesses to focus on creating qualified Vietnamese cars with a reasonable price to compete in the domestic and region market in the context of international integration.
Regarding Truong Hai Auto Corporation, Deputy Prime Minister suggested this enterprise improve production capacity, technology and management efficiency to create more car products branded Vietnam. Quang Nam authority should create favorable conditions for enterprises, including Truong Hai Auto Corporation, to turn Quang Nam province into a center for automobile production and assembly.
"The Government, central ministries and sectors will provide the policies and solutions to create a favorable environment for business investment, in which, create mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of Vietnam's automobile industry in the future, " said Deputy Prime Minister.
Also on December 8, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung went to inspect the construction site of the Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressway and visited, presented as well as encouraged the contractors working on this site.
Deputy Prime Minister asked VEC to speed up the progress while ensuring the work quality. Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway should be a model of progress and quality for the whole North - South expressway in the coming time.
With regard to the difficulty in capital sources and disbursement progress, the Deputy Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Transport to take the prime responsibility for synthesizing and working with ministries, branches and localities for settlement and report to the Government and Prime Minister for matters beyond their authority.
