Towers watching and alerting tsunami were put into trial operation on May 15 in the central city of Da Nang in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.The system, consisting of 10 stations placed at beach and populous areas along the coastline of Da Nang , gives warnings on the disaster by an alarming and signaling system.It was developed by the military-owned telecom group Viettel, which has also successfully built an information system to receive tsunami warnings from the Vietnam Institute of Geophysics. Thanks to Viettel’s competent telecom infrastructure, warnings on tsunami would be transmitted to regions, provinces, and coastal cities promptly.The Viettel tsunami warning watch-tower system would be deployed in localities highly prone for earthquake and tsunami.
