General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, who is on a visit to Indonesia from March 9 to 11, made the remarks at a meeting with major Indonesian companies on March 9.
During a meeting with Budiarsa Sastrawinata, CEO of Ciputra Group, To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam's commitment to encourage Indonesian businesses to invest in the country. He also expressed his hope that Indonesia would help Vietnamese businesses expand their investments and market presence in the country.
"Vietnam is making efforts to refine the legal framework and boost administrative reform to create an enabling investment environment for both domestic and foreign investors," To Lam said.
Ciputra Group is the developer of Nam Thang Long neighborhood, a major foreign-invested real estate project in Hanoi's West Lake scenic area. According to Budiarsa Sastrawinata, the company plans to develop other real estate projects in Vietnam, including residential projects and an office building in Hanoi. The group is also exploring new investment opportunities in the country.
The general secretary reaffirmed Vietnam's support for Ciputra's ongoing projects, and urged the company to work closely with the Hanoi People's Committee and relevant agencies to ensure smooth project implementation. He also encouraged the group to strengthen cooperation with local partners and continue to develop green and smart urban areas, large-scale real estate projects, and tourism infrastructure in Vietnam in the coming years.
On the same day, the general secretary had a meeting with Patrick Walujo, CEO and Chairman of Gojek, and Garibaldi Thohir, Chairman of PT Alamtri Resources, where he said Vietnam is actively attracting foreign investment in key sectors such as renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, digital transformation, innovation, and the development of international financial centers.
He suggested that Gojek consider working with Vietnamese financial institutions to share expertise in digital finance and digital banking, and to establish an international financial hub in Vietnam.
In talks with PT Alamtri Resources, the general secretary offered cooperation in mineral extraction and technology transfer, and expand partnerships in renewable energy, green transition, and digital transformation in Vietnam. He also encouraged the company to invest in the development of Vietnam's seaport logistics system and logistics centers, and to cooperate with Vietnamese companies in the electric vehicle industry, battery production, and smart transportation infrastructure.

During his meeting with Oey Alfred, Director of Sungai Budi Group, the general secretary stressed that Vietnam has many competitive advantages and that both countries have great scope for further cooperation in areas such as fisheries and Halal food production.
Sungai Budi Group is currently working with Vietnamese TTC AgriS to apply scientific advances in high-tech agriculture and agricultural value chains in Indonesia, particularly in sugarcane and coconut production. The company is interested in strengthening agricultural cooperation with Vietnamese businesses.
Later in the day, To Lam hosted Anindya Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). Bakrie called on Vietnam to help KADIN member businesses expand trade and investment, particularly in high-tech industries, green economy, digital economy, maritime economy, and semiconductor industry.
Acknowledging the strong development of Vietnam-Indonesia relations in recent years, To Lam stressed that this serves as a foundation for businesses from both countries to expand their cooperation. He suggested that KADIN work closely with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to facilitate business exchanges and investment opportunities.
"Vietnam is committed to accompanying and supporting Indonesian businesses in their investment and business activities, bringing greater benefits to both sides and taking bilateral relations to new heights," he said.
