Vietnam facilitates investment from Japanese investors

The Vietnamese and Japanese governments are actively discussing an action plan to better implement the bilateral extensive strategic partnership, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told Kawai Katsuyuki, Special Advisor to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during a reception in Hanoi on July 18.
PM Phuc informed the special advisor that Vietnam will offer all possible support for Japan to soon launch key investment projects in transport and energy in Vietnam, delivering on commitments between the two PMs.
Katsuyuki conveyed Abe’s message to the host, saying that Japan highly values Vietnam’s strategic position and wishes to further enhance bilateral extensive strategic partnership. He said PM Abe was delighted to meet the Vietnamese PM at the recent G20 Summit and looks forward to meeting him at APEC Summit 2017 slated for later this year in the central city of Da Nang.
The guest affirmed that Japan will support and accelerate the progress of key transport and energy projects in Vietnam. The two Governments are actively engaging in discussions on the Action Plan to launch the two nations’ Strategic Partnership, he said, adding that he welcomes Japan’s leaders to Vietnam.
The Japanese PM was glad to meet PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the 2017 G20 Hamburg summit in Germany and hoped to meet the Vietnamese PM at the APEC Vietnam 2017 at the end of the year in the central city of Da Nang. Japan will support Vietnam in realizing some large projects in transport and energy in the country, he added. Vietnam will enhance close cooperation with Japan in all areas, affirmed the PM.
The same day, at the meeting with Chief Executive Officer at Mitsubishi Motors Corp Osamu Masuko, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed Mitsubishi Motors’s strategy to expand investment and develop automobile products to protect the environment and use energy economically and effectively in Vietnam.

For his part, Osamu Masuko said Mitsubishi has received significant support from the authorities during its 20 years of operation in the country. He said electric cars are particularly suitable for the Vietnamese market due to their energy efficiency and environmental protection.
He highlighted the corporation’s intention to scale up its investment in Vietnam and in the ASEAN region and revealed that a Nissan-Mitsubishi joint venture has planned to build a plant in the country.
Mr. Osamu Masuko said that the corporation has been present in Vietnam for 20 years and received huge support form Vietnamese functional agencies, asserting to expand its operation in Vietnam.
