Vietnam launches logo design contest on national digital transformation

Domestic and foreign organizations and individuals are encouraged to take part in the contest, which is hoped to raise people's awareness about the importance of digital transformation.

The logo for national digital transformation must be as simple as possible and be Vietnam’s symbol, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung said at a launching ceremony in Hanoi on July 5.

The contest is open to all individuals, organizations, and agencies both at home and abroad, Dung said, adding that designing a logo for national digital transformation is one of the tasks assigned by Vietnam’s Prime Minister.

“The contest is aimed to create a logo for all activities of the National Digital Transformation Program while contributing to building a national image and brand in digital transformation, digital technology, innovation and creative industries,” stressed the deputy minister.

Dung noted that the contest is an opportunity for domestic and foreign organizations and individuals to raise awareness of the meaning, role and importance of digital transformation for each citizen in particular and the country's economic, cultural and social development in general.

“According to statistics, in 2010, Vietnamese people spent one hour a day working in the digital environment and this number has increased to six hours a day this year. It shows that the digital transformation is taking place quickly and comprehensively,” Dung said.

Standing Vice President of Vietnam Fine Arts Association Mai Thi Ngoc Oanh said that the national digital transformation logo is a challenge for artists as it has to be simple but still meaningful.

“Moreover, digital transformation is still a vague concept for many Vietnamese, so designing a logo also requires careful research. It's the first time I've come across a logo contest as difficult as this one,” Oanh said.

She added that the logo must represent the vision of Vietnam’s national digital transformation program until 2030, as Vietnam will become a digital, stable and prosperous country.

Each author can submit from one to five works to the contest.

Entries can be sent  by post to the head office of the Department of Informatization under the MIC; or via the MIC’s portal at https://ideadx.mic.gov.vn. The submission period lasts from July 5 to September 5.

The winning work will be granted a certificate from the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) by the Organizing Committee along with a prize worth VND100 million (nearly US$4,300).
