Hanoi’s traffic camera network operates 24/7 under the Traffic Command and Signal Control Division. Officials receive continuous updates from field units and the public, allowing them to assess road conditions and coordinate responses. When traffic incidents or signal malfunctions occur, technicians quickly analyze the problem and dispatch teams to restore normal operations.

Hundreds of screens show real-time feeds.

In addition to traffic management, the cameras support law enforcement. Depending on the infrastructure and traffic volume, some clusters issue automated fines for violations while others focus on monitoring and directing traffic.

Traffic information from police units and the public is continuously received by radio. Officers immediately relay the information to on-duty traffic teams throughout the city.

Despite technological advances, weather conditions and technical issues can affect system performance. For example, high humidity can interfere with signal circuits. To maintain smooth operation, regular inspections, and maintenance are performed to ensure that faulty signals or damaged equipment are repaired promptly.

Traffic reports are continuously received via radio from on-duty officers, the public, and interactive communication channels.

Beyond technology, Hanoi's traffic police remain actively involved in traffic management when needed. Officers stationed throughout the city step in to manually manage intersections during emergencies or technical failures, preventing congestion from escalating.

For vehicles that cannot be stopped immediately, the authorities will verify the violation, issue a notice, and process it in accordance with Circular No. 73/2024/TT-BCA.

To enhance efficiency, the authorities encourage public participation in reporting traffic signal problems via the Hanoi Traffic Police hotline or online platforms. This collaborative approach allows faster troubleshooting and a more responsive system.

With ongoing advances in data analytics and smart traffic management, Hanoi is optimizing its road network for smoother, safer, and more efficient urban mobility.
