18 people killed in central region's flood

Floods triggered by heavy rains have killed 18 people in the central provinces of Viet Nam, VnExpress reported Saturday.

Seven others are still missing and thousands of houses are inundated, according to the newswire.

Of the death toll, ten people were reported in Binh Dinh province

Many districts in Thua Thien – Hue, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Gia Lai are being flooded, damaging hundreds of hectares of crops in these localities.

In Quang Nam province, local authorities had to evacuate nearly 4,000 people to safer places on November 15.

Meanwhile, authorities of Phu Yen province had to call on 772 residents in coastal areas to leave their home this morning.
