2016 Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair launched in Hanoi

The 2016 Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair has officially kicked off at Vincom Mega Mall Times City trade centre (No. 72A Nguyen Trai Street, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi). The fair has focused on introducing unique culture of each regions to local visitors.

Held annually since 2014, the event has become a prestigious trade promotion event, attracting the response and participation of most of the provinces and cities nationwide. This year’s large-scale event gathers 250 booths of nearly 200 units, enterprises from 50 cities and provinces throughout the country.

Specialties at the fair include processed seafood, candy, tea and coffee, beverage, processed food, agricultural products, fresh food and spices. The products on display are selected carefully, certified and assured about quality and food safety. Products will be on display at geographic sections, such as the North West Region, the Mekong Delta Region, the North Central Coast, the South Central Coast, and the Central Highlands Region.
 
Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan said that the event aims to promote and develop the market for specialties from all regions of the country, preserve and develop traditional culture, characteristics of each region. Additionally, manufacturers also have chance to access to the distribution system, local and international consumers.
 
He believes that with the efforts and close cooperation of Hanoi and the localities, the fair will become a major event for trade and tourism, attracting the attention of businesses, international friends, contributing to socio-economic development of the capital city and the provinces and cities nationwide. The organizing board is striving to improve the quality of the fair to become an international trade fair in 2018.

** Along with 2016 Vietnam Regional Specialties Fair, Minsitry of Industry and Trade in cooperation with the Hanoi People’s Committee organized a conference  to enhance trade exchanges between Hanoi and other cities, provinces. Vice Director of Minsitry of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vu Tien Loc, Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung, leaders of cities, provinces nationwide and representatives of enterprises were present at the conference.
 
According to Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung, over the past years, Hanoi has implemented cooperation programs with many cities and provinces nationwide, especially 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta and provinces of Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Son La, Binh Thuan, and Lam Dong. The trade links have created opportunities for economic cooperation and helped enterprises develop production as well as business.
 
Hanoi has launched trade connection programs with over 50 cities and provinces nationiwide; in 2016, over 350 contracts, cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding are launched. The capital city has proactively helped cities and provinces in organizing conferences and fairs, attracting investment, conducting training, improving product quality and packing, hence bringing their potentials into full play.
 
Hanoi is the big market with 21 commercial centers, 118 supermarkets, 454 markets, over 600 convenience shops and over 50 retail chains of food and farm products. The city welcomes over 20 million visitors annually, of which over 4 millions international tourists. Hanoi ranks 13th among 19 most crowded retail markets in the world, and third among the most crowded retail markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
 
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung hoped that the conference will help enterprises enhance production, business and market development, and contribute to boosting socio-econmic growth and links among localities. Chairman Chung appreciated outcome of the conference. The trade exchanges between Hanoi and localities will ensure supply, demand of products and stabilize market for upcoming New Year’s Eve and Lunar New Year, he said. 
 

Chairman Chung also asked enterprises to enhance cooperation to increase business and production, pay attention to packaging and brand building, and proactively offer their products to consumers. Meanwhile, the localities shall promote coordination among authorities, guide enterprises and producers to improve quality, food safety and sanitation according to certified standards.
