On 6,000 m2, the fruit festival showcases specific products from the Red River Delta and North Coast, Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region, Central Vietnam, Central Highlands, Southeast, and Mekong River Delta. The festival aims to support provinces and cities in finding customers and selling fruits and agricultural products.
The event is part of a series of activities that help ensure supply and demand, stabilizing the market for essential commodities, fruits, and agricultural products before the end of the year and the Lunar New Year holidays.
At the event, participating companies from Hanoi and other localities signed memorandums of understanding on cooperation in selling local fruits in the Hanoi market.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on October 6, acting director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan said the Hanoi market currently consumes about 52,000 tons of fruit a month. However, supply meets only 35% of demand. The provision of the remaining volume depends on suppliers in other provinces.
He added that the municipal Department of Industry and Trade would continue coordinating with related units to deploy activities to intensify the connection between supply and demand with provinces and municipalities to bring safe fruits and agricultural products with clear geographical indications to the city's distribution system.
Lan said these activities aim to stimulate domestic demand and increase the total retail sales of goods and services in Hanoi.
