22 events take place in Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017

The sixth Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017 will highlight island and coastal heritages of the southern province of Quang Nam in a bid to attract more visitors to the province.

This is informed in a press conference held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hanoi on May 9. The “Quang Nam, Heritage Connection Journey” festival will be organised in Tam Ky and Hoi An cities along with several other towns and districts in the province between June 7 to 14.

According to Dinh Hai, Director of the Quang Nam provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the opening ceremony will take place at the Tam Thanh beach square in Tam Ky city on the night of June 9 to boost the province's island and coastal tourism.
This year's festival will witness many cultural and sport activities to be held for the first time including the first national Kayaking tournament in Phu Ninh lake, Phu Ninh district slated for June 10 to 12. The performance of the rite to set up Neu poles of Vietnamese minority groups titled “The essence of Quang Nam highlands” at the traditional communal house of the Katu people in Tay Giang district from June 11 to 13, among others.
The festival will also include a string of events drawing the participation of many international art troupes and organisations such as the International Choir Competition, the International Kite Festival, a golf tournament, the World and Vietnam Silk Festival, an international food festival, the Vietnam Sailboat Race and the World Windsurfing Championship, an international conference on world heritage cities and sustainable development, plus much more.
In addition, various events featuring Quang Nam and Vietnamese culture will be organised promising an array of interesting experiences for visitors including the Bai Choi Folk Singing Festival among Central provinces in Vietnam and the Intangible Cultural Heritage honoured by UNESCO themed 'Colours of Vietnam intangible cultural heritage'. The Exhibition of Champa Temple-towers of the provinces in Central Vietnam, and an Art Show entitled “Legends of Apsara”.
The quadrennial festival was first held in 2003 with the aim of promoting and honouring cultural values and traditions of Quang Nam in particular and Vietnam in general as well as promoting tourism and investment in Quang Nam.
