Launched in December 2019, the contest attracted 317 entries in many creative fields, such as fine arts, folk arts, photography, theater, dance, music and cinema. From the submissions, the Organizing Board selected 55 excellent works for the final round, of which 34 works in the professional art field and 21 works in the amateur art field.

The contest attracted the participation of a large number of the capital's artists. Many literary and artistic works were created in the spirit of innovation, in a true and harmonious approach between tradition and contemporary elements, according to the Organizing Board.

The works inherited and promoted the traditional values of Thang Long-Hanoi, reflecting deeply and comprehensively the performance of the capital in the period of renovation, integration and development; helping to foster the cultural development and the shape the civilized manner of Hanoians and Vietnamese people as a whole.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Bui Thi Thu Hien said that the literary and artistic creation movement commemorating the 1,010th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi aims at promoting the literary and art creation, maximizing the creativity of the capital’s generations of writers and artists; highlight the superiority and lofty nature of humanity.

Thereby, the movement will select works of high value in thought and art content, contributing to consolidating and developing the capital's literature and arts in particular and the Vietnamese art in general to a new level, Ms. Hien said.

However, the Organizing Board said that high-quality works are still scarce, as few authors invested time and efforts in the works. Many have not been true to the theme of the contest.

Mr. Tran Quoc Chiem, Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Literature and Arts Association, proposed the city to held the Capital Literature Prize every two year to encourage artists to join and enhance the value of capital's literature and arts in the coming time.

The Department of Culture and Sports and the Union of Literature and Arts Association of Hanoi have mapped out a specific roadmap to introduce and promote the award winning works; continue to promote the role of literature and arts in the capital construction and development and create favorable conditions for the creative artists.
