67 best works honored at National External Information Service Awards
As many as 67 works were honored at the National External Information Service Awards 2017 ceremony at the headquarters of Vietnam News Agency in Hanoi on June 14.
This is the fourth time the awards have been organized by the Party Central Propaganda and Training Commission, the Central Steering Committee for External Information Services. Nhan Dan newspaper is the standing agency of the 2017 awards.
The awards have helped encourage authors, reporters, press agencies and publishers to more actively participate in the external information service and strengthen connections among relevant agencies, contributing to improving the effectiveness of external information dissemination and promoting Vietnam's relationship with other countries.
This year’s contest received 970 entries in 15 languages, up 9% in number of entries compared to the event in 2016.
The works are produced in 15 languages, namely Vietnamese, English, French, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Bulgarian, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Laos, Khmer, Slovakian, German, Thais.
The entries’ formats include print and online newspaper, radio broadcasting, television broadcasting, landscape photo and books.
At the ceremony, the organizing panel presented 7 first, 15 second, 18 third and 27 mention prizes to authors and groups of authors of works from different genres. The success of the awards has proved the important role of the external information service in the current context.
First launched in 2014, the contest has drawn great attention from both domestic and foreign press organizations, publishers and reporters. Last year, 69 best works were honored at the National External Information Service Awards 2016. In 2016, the contest received 893 entries in 17 languages, up 21% in number of entries and six languages more compared to the event in 2015.
The award will continue to be held in 2018, open to Vietnamese and foreign individuals and groups, each of them could submit no more than 7 entries or entry series to the organizing board.
