A fire claimed seven people in HCMC

A deadly fire claimed seven lives in Ho Chi Minh City in the early morning hours of September 16 when flames erupted from a home at No. 416 Nguyen Trai Street, Ward 8, District 5.

Rescue forces were called to the scene at around 3am, and it took them more than three hours to get the blaze under control.

Fortunately, fire crews were able to contain the blaze with minimal damage to nearby houses, according to initial reports.

The fire completely destroyed the house, leaving most of the roof and walls burned away or severely charred.  Only motorbikes and tables and chairs were salvageable.

As of 7.20am, seven bodies had been located and taken to the morgue.

The cause of the tragic accident is under investigation.
